Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
