British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health comes as the boxing community shared sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
